Apple Cake with Double Streusel (Brown Butter)
The simplest apple cake with double streusel. Crispy, soft inside, and always turns out well.

- butter220 g
- powdered sugar150 g
Apples
- apples1-2 kg
- butter1 łyżka
- sugar2 łyżki
- cinnamon1-1½ łyżeczki
- potato starch1 łyżeczka
Instructions
- 1
Heat the butter in a pot until it starts foaming and turning lightly brown. Set aside to cool.
- 2
Put the flour and powdered sugar into a bowl.
- 3
Add the cooled butter and rub together by hand into a streusel.
- 4
Divide into two parts, one should be larger.
- 5
Spread the larger part into a pan and press down lightly.
- 6
Pre-bake at 180°C for about 20 minutes.
- 7
Peel the apples, cut them up, and put them in a pan.
- 8
Add the butter and sugar, cook for about 10 minutes.
- 9
Add the cinnamon and starch, mix.
- 10
Spread the apples over the pre-baked base.
- 11
Sprinkle with the second portion of streusel.
- 12
Bake for 50-60 minutes at 180°C until golden.
Tip
If you want more filling, you can use up to 2 kg of apples.
Common mistake
Not browning the butter long enough - without this the streusel won't have its full flavor.
Serving suggestion
Best slightly warm, dusted with powdered sugar.
