
Quick Split Pea Soup Without Soaking the Peas

Soup
- 200 gbacon
- 2½ laskisausage
- 2 szt.onions
- 3 ząbkigarlic (2-3 cloves)
- 2000 mlwater
- 2 szt.carrots
- 2 szt.parsley root
- 100 gceleriac (about a piece)
- 400 gsplit yellow peas
- 2 czubate łyżeczkisalt
- 1 łyżeczkapepper
- 4 szt.bay leaves
- 6 kulekallspice
- 3 szt.potatoes
- marjoram (to taste)
Instructions

Starting with a cold pot, render the bacon.

Add the sausage and fry briefly.

Add the onion and garlic.

Pour in the water and add the vegetables and the peas without soaking them.

Season with salt, pepper, bay leaves, and allspice.

Cook for 30 minutes.

Add the potatoes, and only now the marjoram.

Cook for another 30 minutes.

If you want a thicker soup, take out some of the potatoes with peas, mash them and stir them back in.
Tip
Add the marjoram only when you add the potatoes, so its aroma comes through more clearly.
Common mistake
Adding the marjoram too early will flatten its flavor during the long cooking time.
Serving suggestion
Best served hot, with bread, or on its own as a filling meal.
